Technology Doesn’t Slow Us Down.
You often hear how technology – the television, video games, social media, and more – is leading to obesity. But what if the opposite could be true? What if we could use technology, specifically social technology, to achieve a fitter and healthier population?
It is. We can. And it should.
I’m Ted Vickey, and for over 20 years, I’ve immersed myself in fitness technology. Starting as the Fitness Director of the White House Athletic Center through FitWell Inc. and continuing with my latest project as a Ph.D. researcher on Social Networking and Exercise at the National University of Ireland, Galway, I’ve been a big believer in technical systems and their applicability to fitness. Now, with the rise of social media and fitness apps, we can take advantage of technology to not only motivate individuals across the globe to get out the door and move but to be in closer contact with healthcare providers.
Ready to join the fitness technology movement? Let’s do it.
